Team members are encouraged to always plan ahead and drive according to road conditions by…

• Adjusting speed and slowing down.
• Looking at least 15 to 20 seconds ahead and slowing down if your visibility is reduced.
• Using extra caution when approaching highway maintenance equipment and never passing on the right.
• Avoiding harsh braking and acceleration.
• Using windshield wipers.
• Using headlights.
• Keeping brakes as dry as possible.
• Being extra cautious after it rains (beware of black ice)
• Staying well back from trucks and buses.
• Being able to see a minimum of 20 seconds ahead and being able to stop in half the distance you can see.
• Finding a safe place to pull off the road completely.
