FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Our Shaw Brick division is currently looking for a Forklift Operator to join us in Dartmouth, NS. Reporting to the warehouse supervisor, the successful candidate will be will serve as a forklift operator and carry out additional tasks as assigned, and will also be responsible for:

  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment. Operate forklift in a safe and effective manner.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
  • Follow loading procedures and create paper trail for orders
  • Unloading inbound shipments safely and move to proper storage locations
  • Efficiently stack and store products in appropriate areas
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required. Have good organizational skills
  • Duties to include (but not limited to) taking brick off-loading trucks, yard housekeeping, knowing various jobs and where brick are stored, call backs to load trucks, other duties as required
  • Duties and responsibilities may be assigned or reassigned to this job at any time
  • Dealing with customers and providing superior customer service

Please note:  this is a seasonal position.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  • Completion of a forklift training program.
  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Experience in the safe operation of a forklift
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Familiar with material handling

STUDENT INSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Our Shaw Brick division is currently looking for a Student Inside Sales Representative to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Masonry team.

As an integral part of our sales team the successful candidate will:

  • Proactively manage a base of up to 500 accounts in an assigned territory
  • Build customer relationships,
  • Identify needs and qualify leads
  • Promote our landscape products
  • Maintain accurate client and project information
  • Represent the Shaw Group in a professional and respectful manner
  • Work hand in hand with Account Managers, Customer Service Representatives, Retail Center Staff and Transportation teams to ensure we deliver the best in class customer solution that Shaw Brick is known for

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in sales with a focus on lead generation both in person and via telephone
  • Proven relationship builder with a keen knowledge of landscaping and related products
  • Customer service focus, complemented by excellent communication skills and superior time management skills
  • Creative problem solver
  • Extremely proficient in computer software.
  • Interest in a related field of study would be an asset in this role
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset

CONSTRUCTION SALES REPRESENTATIVE

SHAW RESOURCES, HALIFAX OR MONCTON

 

We are currently looking for a Construction Sales Representative. The successful candidate will be a driven relationship builder who can work well with multi-disciplined groups and present well in a business environment. We are looking for a person who takes initiative and ownership, has exceptional customer focus and a strong ability to develop new leads. The successful candidate will be responsible for all ready mix customers in the Maritimes (potentially including Quebec) for concrete sand & flyash products.

As an integral part of our sales team the Construction Sales Representative will be responsible for:

  • Achieving sales forecasts
  • Developing action plans, establishing objectives and meeting set targets
  • Tracking market information pertaining to customer needs, projects and competitor activities
  • Producing quotes and proposals for projects of all sizes and building segments
  • Assisting in the coordination of deliveries to all projects large and small.
  • Up selling products and services including the conceptual selling of new and innovative products
  • Coordinating sales and service of customers with other Shaw Group divisions
  • Representing Shaw Resources in various capacities in industry trade associations, trade shows and social organizations

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • University degree in Sciences or Engineering, or technical diploma in Civil or Industrial Engineering
  • Sales Experience in the construction industry, or direct ready mix/construction experience, considered an asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset – verbal & written
  • Understanding of construction & ready mix industries, concrete chemistry and specifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable writing & delivering proposals
  • Adaptable to working with all levels within our organization

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE ADMINISTRATOR

We are currently looking to for an Accounts Receivable Administrator to work in our Lantz, NS Head Office. Reporting to the General Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Controller and General Managers to maintain collection goals and general A/R performance levels.
  • Processing, posting and reconciling customer payments.
  • Ensuring the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the company and its customers.
  • Creating collection strategies to mitigate customer objections.
  • Investigating collection problems and communicating payment expectations with customers.
  • Making arrangements for payment of outstanding and late accounts; escalating delinquent accounts to outside collection agency as necessary.
  • Resolving billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions.
  • Reviewing credit applications and making recommendations
  • Ensuring credit policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines.
  • Participating in continuous process improvement within the accounting group.
  • Recommending modification to credit policy and procedures.
  • Maintaining strong working knowledge of applicable regulations, legislation and compliance issues, and changes made.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of accounts receivable with a solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Exceptional with attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communicator with proven results in accounts receivable.
  • Strong proficiency with Accounting Software, adaptable and quick to learn new systems.
  • Confidence in balancing assertive communication with a customer focussed attitude.

SALES AND MARKETING ASSOCIATE

CLAYTON DEVELOPMENTS, SAINT JOHN’S NEWFOUNDLAND

We are seeking a Sales and Marketing Associate to join our Galway Living team in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Galway Living master-planned residential community will be unlike any other in the province. The project totals 1400 acres with 115 acres to be developed over the next five years. Galway will be something truly special, designed to create a genuine  sense of community for all aspects of life and offering a broad range of homes to suit any lifestyle – apartments and condos, townhomes and semi-detached units, and larger and smaller executive homes. This project is now fully approved and road construction will commence soon.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Sales Associate will work primarily from our Information Centre located in the new planned community of Galway.  In addition to lot sales to builders and individuals, and customer service responsibilities, the sales and marketing associate will be responsible for other administrative duties related to the overall sales and marketing functions. The successful candidate will represent and manage our brand, while identifying business opportunities and anticipating emerging issues by taking the lead in industry associations and staying up to date with housing and market trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite customer service to individuals, builders, real estate agents, industry trades and community residents
  • Meet with prospective individual purchasers and follow up with previous prospects
  • Maintain an up to date prospect list, revise price lists and sales/marketing material as required
  • Meet with staff and customers regarding survey plans, siting and grading plans, concept plans, etc.
  • Prepare and execute agreements as well as conduct post-sales follow-up
  • Handle in-person, telephone, electronic and social media inquiries after general business hours
  • Distribute sales packages, prepare and deliver community newsletters and manage our social media accounts and websites
  • Assist in the planning and co-ordination of community events
  • Coordinate home shows
  • Providing weekly updates on construction activity, sales data, visitor traffic and community news
  • Undertake market research on home prices, lot prices, activity in other subdivisions, etc.
  • Undertake customer surveys
  • Other sales and non-sales related duties of a general nature required to sell and market the Galway project
  • Assisting with builder sales, builder coordination and executing builder agreements
  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of builder meetings
  • Assisting the Project Manager when necessary with building design and approvals

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Building and growing relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Developing new customers and leveraging relationships to grow customer base
  • Solution-based selling mindset
  • Developing and delivering presentations
  • University or College degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales and marketing administration and customer service
  • Extensive knowledge/experience in the real estate industry
  • Knowledge of new home construction would be an asset
  • Strong administrative skills with an eye for detail
