We are currently recruiting for a temporary Customer Service Representative/Yard Person to work in our retail store in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Although this is a contract position there is potential for it to become a permanent role. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Over-the-counter sales and customer service
  • Handling cash, credit, and interact transactions, as well as account sales
  • Filling customer orders in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner

Shaw Resources operates a maintenance shop along with a decentralized team of repair personnel held at each operation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a safety conscious working environment.

  • Working with operations managers in setting the appropriate priorities for preventive maintenance, efficient reporting, and tracking systems for inspection compliance.
  • Planning and forecasting to allow for the adequate approvals for the divisions maintenance budget. Managing project costs and maintenance budgets.
  • Analysing and reporting on key performance indicators and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • Post-Secondary academic diploma or degree in a technical field is an asset (ie. Millwright, Engineering).
  • Previous management experience in a manufacturing environment with proven technical competency.

  • Providing a high volume of prompt and courteous service and product solutions both through telephone and email. This position involves frequent telephone communication with contractors, project managers and less often the general public.
  • Providing solution-minded customer service. This position is a liaison for our customers assisting with; shipping product, processing orders, handling account questions, accurate account billing, processing order cancelations, complaints, and other general queries.
  • Selling our products and advising on product and company information.
  • The maintenance of customer & supplier accounts as carried out by correctly invoicing, crediting, and accurately reconciling those accounts.
  • Coordinating the on-time deliveries for precast concrete materials to jobsites within the Maritime Provinces.
  • Reviewing the manufacturing schedule and coordinating the timely delivery of project specific materials between the production floor and the final user on site.
  • Updating and maintaining sales orders and inventory levels through POS software (Syspro) and physical paper records.
  • The preparation of quotations and simple project specific design drawings on a project-by-project basis.
  • Standard product costing and price list revisions.
