Dean Robertson is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Shaw Group Limited. A graduate of both Acadia University with a Certificate in Applied Science and the Technical University of Nova Scotia with a Degree in Industrial Engineering, Robertson held managerial positions with McCain Foods Limited and Lewis Mouldings Limited before joining The Shaw Group in 1997. As General Manager of Shaw Wood, he immediately displayed his keen leadership skills and worked with a strong team who grew the company to become one of IKEA’s top-ranking producers in North America. Appointed General Manager of Prestige Homes in 2006, Robertson restructured the business model, based on the new realities in the housing industry. This new structure, with his emphasis on team building, has paid off in the positioning of that division for the future. In recent years, Robertson attended Duke University Advanced Management Program and has worked on growing The Shaw Group operations into Labrador. Robertson’s current focus is on leading the company’s growth strategy and building a strong team for the future. He has served on various wood sector boards and also Enterprise Fundy, a community economic development agency in New Brunswick.
Lindsay Hawker serves as Corporate Secretary and General Legal Counsel for The Shaw Group. She joined the company in 2014 in the role of Director of Real Estate Services at Clayton Developments, before moving onto her current position in 2015. Lindsay has a BA, Advanced Double Major from Dalhousie University. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Lindsay went on to study law at Dalhousie University and graduated in 2003. She then worked as a lawyer in private practice at McInnes Cooper, specializing in corporate, commercial, and real estate law. Lindsay has served on the Neptune Theatre Board of Directors and was also President of Nova Scotia Real Estate Division of the Canadian Bar Association.
Adam Randell is Director of Finance and Special Projects. He started at The Shaw Group in 2009 as Corporate Controller. Currently, he is responsible for providing financial leadership, overseeing accounting functions, playing a key role in long and short-term strategic decision making, and heading up many of the growth files. Adam earned his Bachelor of Science in Math and Statistics with Business from Acadia University in 2004. Three years later, he achieved his CA designation while with KPMG. He also serves as Chair of the Board for Metro Non-Profit Housing Association (MNPHA) and Chair of the Board for the Creighton/Gerrish Development Association (CGDA).
John Greer is General Manager of Shaw Precast Solutions and Shaw Transport, and President of Ven-Rez Products Ltd. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University and completed the Owner President Manager (OPM) Program at Harvard University. Since joining The Shaw Group in 1989 as Technical Sales Representative, Greer has held several positions and played a key role in the growth of the Precast division. He was appointed General Manager of Precast in 2001 and assumed responsibility for Ven-Rez in May 2006 when the company became part of The Shaw Group. He is also active in industry associations including the Canadian Concrete Pipe Association and the American Concrete Pipe Association.
Richard Butts is President of Clayton Developments Limited. He joined the company in 2016 after five years as the Chief Administrative Officer for Halifax Regional Municipality. For thirteen years prior to that, he served as the Solid Waste Manager and then the Deputy City Manager for the City of Toronto. During his time as CAO of Halifax, Richard served on the boards of the Halifax Partnership and the Halifax Water Commission, and was a member of the Halifax Police Commission. Butts earned a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario. He has been an active volunteer for many years, particularly with the corporate United Way campaigns for both The City of Toronto and Halifax Regional Municipality.
Glenn Hardie is General Manager of Shaw Resources. With The Shaw Group since 1994, he has worked in various and diverse positions throughout the company, including Sales and Marketing Manager and General Manager of Wood Pellet Operations. After earning his B.Comm. from Saint Mary’s University in 1993, Hardie was designated a Certified Management Accountant in 1998, and completed his MBA degree from Queen’s University in 2005. He has been on the Board of the Nova Scotia Chapter of Skills Canada and sits on the current Board of the Wood Pellet Association of Canada.
Joe Gushue is General Manager of Prestige Homes. Prior to joining The Shaw Group in 2004, Gushue was employed by J.D. Irving. He served as the Operations Manager at Prestige for six years before being appointed General Manager. Gushue graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business Executive Leadership Program and holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from UNB. He currently sits on the Canadian Wood Manufacturing Council Board of Directors.
James Bond is the General Manager of Shaw Brick. Before joining the Shaw Group in 2014, as Shaw Brick’s Vice President of Business Development, James spent over 20 years in sales and marketing positions at Coca-Cola, Caterpillar, and Labatt Breweries. His roles have always focused on new product introduction, communication, sales growth, and process improvements. Born in Nova Scotia, James graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 1994.
Brady Hawley is Vice-President of Technical solutions for The Shaw Group. Since 1994, he has held the various positions including Manager, Operational Excellence at Shaw Brick and Operations Manager and Structural Engineer at Shaw Pipe. Hawley graduated with three bachelor’s degrees – in science, education, and engineering – from St. Francis Xavier University. He also completed the Queen’s University Leadership and Finance programs and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia.
