New and Prestigious Award for The Shaw Group

The Shaw Group recently celebrated a prestigious new award. In January 2012, our company was chosen among some stiff competition to be named Halifax’s Business of the Year. This Halifax Chamber of Commerce award, sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada, is one of five given out annually. Other awards include special recognition for new businesses, small businesses, and international businesses. Last year, Clayton Developments was named the Silver winner in this same category.

When accepting the award, our CEO Bert Frizzell highlighted our company’s unique combination of ingredients that have been our recipe for success for the last 150 years. Our loyal, hard working employees; our consistently high quality products and services; our access to diverse markets; our efficient production processes that keeps costs under control; and the fact that we are senior management-owned and operated.

“I also drew special attention to the people we are fortunate to employ,” says Bert. “Their commitment and dedication to our company has provided us with a continued powerful and strategic competitive advantage and has directly led to the winning of this award.”

The Halifax Business Awards are intended to recognize those businesses and business people in Halifax who exemplify the best that our city has to offer: innovators who are willing to take chances, push the boundaries, and stretch the limits for success. The Shaw Group received the Business of the Year award at a gala event at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. On hand were over 20 of the company’s employees.
